Frequently Asked Questions
What Proxmox version is required?
Proxmox VE 7.0 or later. The VM must have a SPICE display configured (not VNC).
How do I enable SPICE on my VM?
In Proxmox VE, go to your VM → Hardware → Display → change the type to SPICE. Then start the VM and use the SPICE proxy address and port shown in the console tab.
The screen is black after connecting.
Make sure the VM is fully booted and the guest OS has loaded its display driver. Try disconnecting and reconnecting. If the issue persists, check that the SPICE port is reachable from your device.
Audio is not working.
Ensure the VM has audio hardware configured in Proxmox and the guest OS has audio drivers installed. On iOS, make sure the app has microphone permission if you want two-way audio (VM sound → speakers, mic → VM).
How do I send Ctrl+Alt+Delete to the VM?
Open the gear menu (⚙) in the top-right of the display and tap Send Ctrl+Alt+Del.
The app says "Connection failed".
Check that the SPICE host and port are correct, your device is on the same network as the Proxmox server (or connected via VPN), and the firewall allows the SPICE port (default 5900–5999).
Is my data private?
Yes. PrXpice contains no analytics or tracking. All connection data is stored locally on your device and communicated only with your own Proxmox server.
